Car Stuck in Snow!

While winter weather is beautiful, it can also be treacherous. If you’re stuck in the snow, our Toyota service experts at Sansone Toyota have a few tips so you know how to respond.

Check Your Surroundings

While we know it can be frightening, try to stay calm. Check your surroundings and make sure that you’re safe or else call for assistance.

Work to Clear Away the Snow

This is your friendly reminder to make sure you have a winter kit in your car, so you’re prepared instead of scrambling in this situation. You should have a small shovel, ice scraper, and sand or kitty litter. Use your shovel to try to clear as much snow away from your tires and create a potential path.

Add Some Traction

Even a little extra traction can help you power out of the snow. Add the kitty litter or sand in front of your tires (and behind if you’re trying to back out). If you don’t have any available, look for small twigs or even use your floor mats if necessary.

Attempt to Rock Your Way Out

Once you’ve cleared as much snow as possible, attempt to rock your vehicle out. After turning off any traction control, slowly drive forward, stop, and then reverse. If possible, get some reinforcements to help with a push (using extreme caution).

Visit Us for a Tire Inspection Today

The best way to avoid getting stuck in the snow is to increase your traction on the road. Stop by Sansone Toyota to have your tires inspected today. We’ve also got quality replacements if you need any!
